This is a great passage from a testimonial we received from one of our members, Kristina, recounting her recent 1/2 marathon experience.
“When, at mile 10.5, all of my muscles started cramping, I hurt. Badly. It was at that time that I thought maybe this wasn’t such a great idea after all. For a few seconds, I berated myself over the foolishness of not properly training. But then, my mind recognized that dark place. It’s the third round of Fran, or halfway through Murph. It’s trying to climb a rope with shaking forearms and praying you have enough grip strength left that you don’t splatter yourself on the ground. It’s burpees, wallballs, and boxjumps. It’s all of those things when you’re in that place where you feel like your body just can’t do any more. But then you acknowledge that dark place, tell it to *F* off and you do another rep. You are going to finish your workout. You might come in dead last, but you WILL NOT QUIT!”
